Gina Freschet graduated with honors and a BA in editorial illustration from SVA, The School of Visual Arts in Manhattan, New York. There she studied with formidable, successfully working artists, Brad Holland and Sue Coe. Before graduating college, Freschet was publishing her work in The New York Times and was illustrating her first children’s book for Scribners & Sons.

Her work has appeared in many major publications including Esquire, The New Yorker, Psychology Today, Ms. and New York Magazine. She has written and illustrated six books for children with the elite publisher, Farrar Straus & Giroux.

In New York, Freschet’s fine art paintings have been represented in SoHo at the William Bennett Gallery, now on Madison Avenue. Her paintings have been shown in Rockefeller Center with works by Jean Michel Basquiat and Andy Warhol. For a brief time she hung out with Basquiat at the East Village clubs during the Art Scene of the 80s. They debated the role of social consciousness in art.
Her works are in the collections of famed restauranteurs, Vicky Freeman, Justin Cucci and actors Liev Shreiber, Naomi Watts and the Dillard Foundation among others. Freschet works and lives in New York City.
