Laura Goodwin received her BA in Studio Art, Ceramics from Scripps College in the 1970’s. While attending college, she spent two years studying in Perugia, Italy and received a Certificate of Proficiency in the Italian language. She became interested in glass and apprenticed with master craftsman Craig Zweifel of Idaho. She also attended Pilchuk over a period of three years – as a student, artist assistant to Italo Scango and a teaching assistant/interpreter for Felice Niholo. After leaving Idaho she received her MS in Art Education and Teacher Certification for Art in K-12 from Southern Connecticut University in New Haven. She also received a MFA in Glass from Southern Illinois University in 1995. She then attended the Penland School of Crafts in North Carolina, and in 1995 moved to Santa Fe to work as an artist assistant for Flo Perkins. Laura has run the Nambe Glass Studio for the last 12 years.
